How I Got Here

(Don't Judge Me)

So I'm Vonda Bowens, and I am going to be completely transparent with you.

I'm a CPA, and my money used to be "funny". You know, the person who's supposed to have their financial life together? Well, mine was completely falling apart.

I had credit cards maxed out, was late on utility bills, and honestly felt like such a fraud every single day. I used to sit across from clients, helping them organize their finances, while my own bank account was screaming at me.

I finally mustered up the strength to see this financial advisor. Then this financial advisor looks at my mess of paperwork and bank statements and goes, "Girl, this is a MESS." Not gonna lie, I wanted to disappear. But something about that moment just clicked. Like, okay, Vonda, enough is enough.

I started praying about it - a lot. Because clearly my spreadsheet skills weren't cutting it. That's when things got interesting. God started showing me that money isn't just about math and budgets. It's about Kingdom principles, and when you align your finances with how He designed things to work, stuff actually starts working.

I'm not saying that I've arrived, but I've left.

I'm still learning, still growing, still making mistakes sometimes. I resolved within myself that I am going to be on this journey until the day I transition to heaven. But I've gone from that constant financial panic to actually having some peace about money. And let me tell you, that peace is everything.

Now I get to invite other Christians who are building businesses or working on their digital marketing dreams, but feel stuck because their cash flow is either feast or famine.

You know what I'm talking about.

One month you're celebrating, the next you're stressed about making payroll or paying your insurance?

I get it. The frustration is so real.

But the good news is you don't have to choose between following God's calling for your life and having money in the bank. There's actually a way to do both, and it doesn't require you to become someone you're not.

Let's take this journey together.

Because your dreams matter, and money shouldn't be the thing that stops you from living them out.

Why Most Christian Entrepreneurs Stay Stuck Financially (Even When They Love God)

August 05, 20254 min read

You thought trusting God was enough.

You tithed.
You prayed.
You budgeted.
You waited.

But the financial breakthrough you expected… still hasn’t come.

And while you wouldn’t say it out loud, deep down you’re wondering:
“What am I missing?”

The truth is—you’re not stuck because you don’t love God.

You’re stuck because you’ve never been taught how to partner with Him financially… in the way He actually designed.

This article will show you where the real gap is—
And what must shift before the money does.

It Doesn’t Feel Like Fear—But It Is

You tithe. You serve. You’ve built a business with integrity and prayer.

But under the surface… it still feels like you’re grinding harder than you’re growing.
You're investing—but not multiplying.
You're building—but not breaking through.
You're believing—but wondering why increase still feels so far off.

Somewhere along the way, faith became synonymous with waiting.
You were trained to endure—not to expand.
And “trusting God” started to look like hesitation disguised as holiness.

If you don’t confront that belief system, you’ll confuse inaction for obedience.
You’ll keep walking in circles—spiritual, committed, exhausted.
But never actually advancing.

Ask yourself honestly:
Am I moving forward because I trust Him—or sitting still because I’m scared of getting it wrong?

You can’t shift what you spiritualize.
Fear wrapped in Scripture still keeps you stuck.

You’re not just in a financial trap.
You’re in a belief loop—and it’s time to break out.

When Fear Sounds Like Faith

You lower your prices—to stay “accessible.”
You delay launching—because you're still “praying on it.”
You avoid visibility—so you won't appear prideful.
It all sounds like wisdom.
But deep down, it might be something else.

You’ve been taught to fear becoming “worldly,” so you’ve avoided the very strategies God could use to fund His Kingdom through you.
You call it stewardship… but it might actually be fear dressed up in Scripture.

The Bible never says faith is passive.
Faith moves.
Faith builds.
Faith is proven by works that align with the Word—not feelings or fear-based logic.

Audit your actions with this question:
Are your actions built on what Scripture actually says about money, provision, and increase
or are they protecting your comfort while calling it conviction?

If your behavior doesn’t match what the Word of God says, it’s not alignment—it’s avoidance.

Until your actions reflect biblical faith, you’ll stay stuck in spiritual reasoning that looks holy…but keeps you small.

The Shift That Changes Everything

You’ve fasted.
You’ve tithed.
You’ve waited.
But you haven’t moved—because deep down, you’re still waiting to “feel ready.”

You assumed a renewed mind was just a mindset shift.
But biblically, your mind isn’t renewed until your decisions change—and your actions follow.
As James 1:22 puts it: “Be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

Romans 12:2 tells us to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind”—so that your life proves what God says is good, acceptable, and perfect.
That word “prove” doesn’t mean to mentally agree with the Word—it means to demonstrate it.

Your financial life is one of the most visible places that happens.

So what does this kind of obedience look like in real life?
Here are a few examples:

  • Stewarding wisely by tracking where your money goes—because Luke 16:10 says if you’re faithful with little, you’ll be trusted with more.

  • Multiplying intentionally by using the skills and knowledge God already gave you to increase income—like the servant in Matthew 25 who took what he had and produced more.

  • Building with faith by stepping forward based on God’s instruction before you “feel ready”—just like Abraham in Hebrews 11:8, who obeyed and went without knowing the destination.

These aren’t boxes to check.
They are ways to align your finances with what the Bible actually says.

You don’t need a new revelation.
You need to act on what God’s already shown you.

A renewed mind produces renewed action.
When your money starts aligning with the Word because you are consistently taking renewed action, transformation follows.

You’re Closer Than You Think

The problem isn’t your heart.
It’s not your work ethic.
And it’s definitely not God holding back your blessing.

The real issue is the gap—between what you believe and what you actually do.

And once you close that gap… everything starts to shift.

You already love God.
Now it’s time to build like you trust Him.
